Pros

I have worked at AGC for almost five years now, and I can truly say that this has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life, let alone career. Here's why: Unparalleled Learning Experience: The depth of the knowledge that I have accumulated at AGC is unparalleled when considering my peers who work at other investment banks. I can confidently say that AGC provides an environment in which you will not only quickly learn the entire M&A process, but also be equipped with tools that go well-beyond banking. The immense confidence you get from learning how to lead a deal from start to finish, building long-lasting relationships with both co-workers and clients, and understanding and solving virtually any problem that arises is truly unique to working at AGC. From where I started in 2019 to where I am now, I truly can feel and see the progression and acceleration in my career and who I am as a person. Rapid Career Advancement: My journey from an Analyst to Vice President within four years stands testimony to the firm's commitment to recognizing and rewarding talent, hard work, and commitment. AGC enables you to quickly advance not based on age but on merit – and compensates you along the way for your success. If you told me that I could become a Partner before I turn 30, I’d honestly not believe it. But that is the current reality. Exposure to C-Suite Leadership: One of the defining aspects of working at AGC Partners is the frequent interaction you have with CEOs/senior management teams. This level of exposure has been a cornerstone of my development and has enabled me to truly understand the intricacies of what motivates people, what drives a business’ success or failure, and how to think strategically. Being at the Forefront of Tech M&A: AGC uniquely provides you the opportunity to work across almost every sector of technology. The wide variety of deals and pitches that you work on gives you exclusive insight into the broader tech M&A market and the various business models and trends that underscore it. This has enabled me to quickly understand what a business does, what the trends are behind the market it plays in, and what the likelihood of success or failure it has when transacting – skills that translate into almost any sell-side or buy-side role. Deep Sense of Camaraderie: AGC fosters an environment of close collaboration, teamwork, and building real, life-lasting relationships. I have been lucky enough to forge extremely close friendships with members of my class, members of junior classes, our partners, and with folks who have left the firm. AGC is not a bank that promotes cut-throat competition amongst its ranks – it is a firm that strives to make sure everyone looks out for each other, helps each other, and has fun together. This starts from our CEO and goes all the way through our internship classes. It is one of the biggest reasons why I love AGC so much and why I want to continue to develop and grow here. I am truly grateful for the experiences I've had, the mentors I've found, and the friendships I've made at AGC. I can confidently recommend working at AGC to anyone considering a future in tech banking.

Cons

Just like any investment bank, the hours can be hard, specifically when you first start, and this type of work is not for everyone. You will be pushed to get your best work here and are expected to always be ready to go. You will have to manage a number of different action items everyday and forced to step out of your comfort zone and take on more responsibility quickly. That said, the benefits far outpace the cons - at every level.
