Pros
- Great entry level job for a teenager - Free movies & discounts - Improves customer service and team building skills - Teaches you how to work quickly & efficiently under pressure - Opportunities to move up quickly I worked at AMC Entertainment for five years...it was my first job. I started working when I was 16 and left when I was 21. I spent 3 years as an entry level film crew and the next 2 as a Supervisor. I had a great time doing both when I was living at home with my parents support, it was a lot of fun going to the movies for free and I made a lot of professional relationships and friendships while there. I also learned how to deal with upset customers in a professional manner while keeping my cool. This is something that sticks with me even at my office job now.
Cons
- Very low pay, if you're looking to feed your family or a career then look elsewhere - Very long hours. They require you to be available anytime on weekends and at least 2 - 3 nights a week. - Gets very busy during peak hours. To the point where it's very chaotic. The movie theater business is dying. While I worked at AMC, Corporate was very concerned about the future because every year the numbers were looking worse and worse compared to the previous. Ticket & food prices go up by about $0.25 or $0.50 twice a year as well which isn't good. I'm happy I got out there.
