Pros

-Easy money for easy work. The work is simple. Ushering? Sweep things up. Behind concession? Sell them food, upsell, etcetera. In box office? Sell them tickets. If you have a good amount of patience, you'll like working here. -Free movies. (Self-explanatory.) -Generally good people to work with. (This depends on your location really.) -Decent hours if you have a good availability. If you can open and close two days of the weekend (Friday through Sunday) and your theater is somewhat busy, you're usually guaranteed hours. -Mostly flexible schedules. (Weekends are work days, which might rub some people the wrong way.) -Requesting days off operates on a first come, first serve basis. If you're a timely person or like to plan at least a week ahead, getting the days you need off is really easy.

Cons

-Lack of communication. Different managers tend to tell the employees conflicting ways to deal with something, which can obviously cause problems. -Possible chance to work on holidays and weekends. If you absolutely need time off on weekends, then this job isn't for you. You can request holidays off too, but the chances of it getting approved depend on the holiday, what movies are out that day, and how many people work at your location. -Managers tend to play favorites. It's human nature to choose the people you like. The only thing you can do is try not to step on anyone's toes. -Sick days might cost you your job. The sick day procedure at AMC is obnoxious. If you're sick and can't come in to work, management insists you find a replacement. Depending on the day you get sick, you might not need to (for instance, on a Monday morning shift during the school week), but if it's on a busy Saturday night, you better have a doctor's note or something. -Lack of focus. Management here tends to tell us to do something, constantly reiterate it for a week or so, then completely drop it. In terms of the regular employee, some are just there for the money and do as little work as possible, which can get frustrating during peak hours. -A small percentage of customers. All customer service jobs have to deal with unruly patrons, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. This becomes more apparent around special shows or around the times where pricing changes.
