Pros
While I was interviewing I was told if you want to work at Ametek you need to be prepared to be a workhorse, not a showhorse. There is not a more apt statement to describe the culture here. It is lean, and everyone needs to do their part to make the team successful which can be very rewarding if you like to work. Even though the workload is heavy, the weak quickly get weeded out and the result is a strong team environment. The strong team allows for maintenance of a good work life balance despite workload. Salary is above average, and benefits are slightly above average. 401k match is low but is made up for in "retirement incentive" that increases with age and yrs service. Overall very happy I work here and plan to stay for years to come.
Cons
Given the pros, Ametek is not for everyone. Not everyone is used to an environment where you have to go all day, but for those that thrive in that environment, Ametek could be a good place. Turnover is high in salary positions because not a lot of people are cut out for the type of environment Ametek provides. Sometimes it seems like the Executive Office comes down a little hard on certain divisions despite good performance, this sometimes makes work disheartening.
