Pros
Most of my coworkers I became very close with and we became a great team and even friends outside of work! PTO, self-scheduling*, easy parking, 403B, good insurance.
Cons
Where to begin with the cons? -Manipulative/caddy management, like to have strict control over everything/everyone -favoritism -5-6 patients during day shift -very very high turn over rate, low pay. Last year raise only 49 cents. -Will change your self-schedule days without asking if OK -Charge nurses are given patients (anywhere from 1-3) often so not available to help floor nurses when they need it. -During the COVID crisis, no hazard pay, no annual review/no raises, reusing all PPE besides gloves. Nurses were abandoned by everyone. -RN/PCTS had to be secretary, house keeping, speech therapy, physical therapy, meal delivery, patient transport, take own specimens to labs, go to pharmacy (across entire hospital), ect, ect. -very high stress due to staffing, always new nurses coming in creating imbalance in skilled vs. novel nurses the list goes on
