Pros

No prior AML experience required (most banks require AML experience) Work from home Flexible hours Medical benefits Great training

Cons

I worked at AMLRS for a little over a year and was assigned to two different projects. I was directly exposed to AML/BSA on my first project and did a lot of writing and research. I learned a lot and enjoyed everything I did. I was promoted and recognized for my high-quality performance, however my increase in salary was very low. I was pulled off the project and told I had an “exciting opportunity” to work for a different client based on my top performance. I was under the impression I was going to be doing similar work to my last project, but no. I went from doing extensive research/writing/investigations to mindless, numbing, copy and paste type of work. This is when I learned AMLRS does NOT care about helping you grow or move up within the company. The clients ALWAYS come first and you constantly feel like a second class employee/undervalued. Some client managers and employees are rude, and some projects are better than others and you just have to hope you aren’t assigned to a client that treats you like complete crap. On one of my projects a mistake was made with production numbers and my manager was quick to blame me for slacking off and insisted I work harder, even though I explained I was actually exceeding the daily quota. It ended up being a mistake the client made, and I never received an apology (not to mention ever being recognized for my consistent hard work). My advice for anyone wanting to break into the AML industry - you are better off working an entry level job at a bank and working your way up instead of starting here and then ultimately having to look for new employment after a year.

Pros

Individual managers you directly report to can be incredibly understanding and supportive. The work can be interesting.

Cons

It's a managed services company, and sometimes goals are unrealistic. Pressure can be intense. Managers are often promoted through the ranks and might not actually be cut out to manage people - it's highly variable. Sometimes you get unlucky. It tends to be writing intensive and requires attention to detail fr fr, and a lot of people overestimate their abilities.
