- Interpreters not reimbursed for certification process.
- Sick days and vacation days are all rolled into one.
- Language Services siloed from the rest of the organization, which includes not having access to an internal job board.
- Overall lack of transparency. At one point, an email was sent out stating that no staff interpreters make $40 per hour, but a quick job search reveals that is not the case as ASL interpreters have a starting pay of $45 p/hr.
- Heavy bias towards ASL interpreters, as the benefits below are not extended to spoken language interpreters:
1) Spoken language interpreters paid $19-$22 per hour (below market rate, which should be closer to $27-$31) compared to ASL interpreters who are paid at market rate.
2) ASL interpreters are given more breaks than spoken language interpreters (10 minutes per hour, not scheduled).
