Pros

Punctual pay Medical Insurance Permanent work from home

Cons

While the company offers remote work opportunities and maintains a relatively stable workflow, there are several concerns that management continues to ignore. One of the biggest issues for employees in Costa Rica is the impact of the exchange rate. When I joined the company, the U.S. dollar was trading at around 550 CRC, which had historically been considered a normal exchange rate in the country. Since then, economic conditions in Costa Rica have caused the dollar to fall to around 450 CRC. While this is not the company’s fault, employees are still expected to deliver the same level of performance, productivity, and commitment despite experiencing a significant reduction in purchasing power. The change in the exchange rate represents roughly an 18% decrease in the value of our earnings when converted to local currency, placing considerable pressure on household finances. Despite repeated concerns from employees, the company has not provided salary adjustments, raises, or bonuses to help mitigate the impact of the exchange rate. Another concern is the communication culture. There is often a passive-aggressive tone in company channels, particularly when employees attempt to raise legitimate concerns. For example, during Interpreter Appreciation Day activities, employees are reminded that the channels are strictly for recreation and that discussions or topics that could generate conflict are not permitted. While maintaining a positive environment is important, this approach can make employees feel discouraged from expressing valid concerns or engaging in open dialogue about workplace issues. The company would benefit from greater transparency, more open communication, and a stronger commitment to addressing issues that directly affect employees’ financial well-being and morale.

Pros

At nearly 9 years with AMN, I've had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while helping hospitals and clinics address critical staffing shortages. The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and AMN continues to adapt to meet those challenges while keeping patient care at the center of every decision. I've worked alongside talented colleagues, built meaningful relationships with clinicians, and had the chance to make a real impact by connecting healthcare professionals with communities that need them most. The organization offers opportunities to learn, grow, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced industry.

Cons

Like any company operating in healthcare staffing, the industry can be unpredictable. Market conditions, reimbursement changes, workforce shortages, and client demands can create periods of uncertainty and require teams to pivot quickly. The pace can be demanding, and success often requires resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace change.
