Pros

Cares about its employees - and it shows. Great bennies including generous 401k. Follows federal work calendar. Good people to work with. Competitive starting salary (see cons).

Cons

Office politics can be a factor. Little opportunity for promotion. Negotiate the best starting salary you can get because the annual raises are typically only a couple percent (assuming satisfactory performance). Hard to tell where you stand with your supervisor, but that can vary depending on the person.

The lower level staff and friendly and hard working, and we all have each others back. There is a true dedication at the lower staff level (director and below) to providing quality to our members.

Cons

The CEO is power hungry and quickly eliminates anyone who might be considered a rival or a threat to her power. The C-Suite panders to her who and doesn't stand up for the staff under them. Anything she wants she gets, which is stressful to staff as she constantly demands new programs without doing any kind of market or business analysis, and then staff are overworked and stressed having to churn out new programs that consistently fail.
