Pros

some of the people here are professional and nice to be around

Cons

Management is terrible and inefficient, leadership sets you up for failure by not providing proper training then blames you for not knowing that you were trained properly. The companies leadership invested in a terrible management system that has failed to work properly from day one yet holds people accountable for things that they could not input into the system because the system failed and has to send out frequent apology emails. this place sucks, work culture sucks, they don't value their employees over their bottom line and it shows in everything they do. goals are general and your bonus evals are based on a subjective overview of you reaching arbitrarily defined goals (so if you don't kiss up to your supervisor there goes your bonus. ATCC does not pay industry standard, they only get a way with this because there are few biotech companies in Northern Virginia; I wish I would have known about the plethora of biotech companies in Maryland that offer competitive salaries before I moved here for this job.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
