Pros
There aren't many here. I like my coworkers. We are all in the same boat so we commiserate together. Retirement match is pretty good and you start off at 3 weeks vacation, but give it time and I am sure that will be taken away. The trend over the last few years has been to slowly cut benefits. We've been told by HR to be appreciative of the free parking and coffee so we got that going for us, which is nice.
Cons
There is zero leadership. The CEO only comes in couple days a week if that. He leads by fear and pits the ELT against each other so there is constant bickering and backstabbing which trickles down the ranks and defeats morale. We have a hiring freeze at least once a year and are unable to replace essential positions. As a result we fall behind on work and then get criticized because we are behind. It is a continuous vicious cycle. And HR....Don't even get me started on HR. The running joke in the company is "HR? What HR?" They outsourced all of their responsibilities to external providers and middle management so they can roll in after 10:00 or "work from home" to then complain how busy they are. They are the nastiest most unprofessional individuals I have ever worked with. Employees are told that they are to never under any circumstances ever go to HR for anything. If you do they will shame and berate you for your question or concern. It’s like being back in high school and getting bullied all over again. It continues to amaze me that this type of behavior is tolerated. Morale is so low and most people are stuck because they are tied to the area and the closest biotech jobs are over an hour away. There is zero motivation because employees do not feel appreciated.
