Pros

I worked with some really great people at ATCC (both management and front line team members). The brand is a great one, and is trusted in the marketplace. Some leaders are really driving great new opportunities there and the teams work well together. I enjoyed working with my direct and senior management.

Cons

Sadly, this company is in dire need of a new CEO. He churns through his senior leadership team in about 2 years time and I've seen some great leaders get shown the door. He has failed (in my time there at least) to have a true succession plan, and at his advanced age this is an act of pure hubris. In my opinion, this is the critical weakness holding the organization back. A second key issue is that ATCC does not promote its best employees. They's lost great team members because there is no way to get promoted there.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
