Pros

Flexible work schedule, no weekends, no holidays. Interesting work, with unusual culture types. Coworkers friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Retirement benefits okay for small company.

Cons

The low rating for this company and the negative comments are not the result of disgruntle employees. After working at ATCC for 4 years, I have to say the company earned those comments and ratings. For the most part people who work there enjoy the work and their coworkers. But there is no opportunity for advancement. Pay is low end of the scale. The morale of the company is very low and management does not care. Policies and procedures are changed by people who don't understand process and those who do understand are left out of loop. When people ask me what its like to work at ATCC I tell them its like living behind the Iron Curtain. Say something that management didn't like and boom, you are removed by the KGB. Management says open door, but people who do ask questions or disagree with management often just disappear.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
