Pros

Lots of lazy / terrified people so if you are a hard worker you will probably rise to the top relatively quickly. Management is scared stiff of new ideas so if you stay in your lane and do nothing extra you will probably get along just fine -- you may even get promoted!

Cons

Management lies constantly about opportunities and regularly denies standard trainings and events to qualified staff. Turnover is FAST. Average working time here is about 6 months. Managers are terrified of their staff and ill equipped to handle motivated individuals. Scapegoats are common. HR has been sued multiple times and regularly loses due to poor business practice. Very poor negotiators all around. Older supervisors cannot let go of power and usually make it onto the cushy board, perpetuating bad practice. HR is VERY nasty and regularly stalks people online, even after they've left.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
