Pros

Their profit sharing program is one of the best I've seen. They will give you a certain per cent right off the top, deposit it in your accounts as you deem necessary, and match up to an additional 2.5 per cent. This is very good. They have a very reasonable Short term disability that is super helpful, this again is very helpful.

Cons

The Insurance has went from mediocre to worse. As a general rule they practice high levels of favoritism, coupled with generous amounts of nepotism. They will retaliate to anyone that shows a spark of backbone, and do bad things to them, and basically dare them to go to a lawyer with it. Their 1-800 ethics line is a sham. Probably only good for reporting something like Sexual abuse or such. If you complain too much on it, they will change your job, move you to another location or something to show you that you dare not question them. A recent independent stock market analysis published by a stock company did a review on the company and basically said that they did not think that their management was competent. Their stock prices have dropped a shocking amount in the last couple of years which bear this out. They also customarily pay their engineers and so forth less than industry standard, but make judicious use of local engineers so that they are less likely to move from their current state of imprisonment. The only good paying jobs with benefits in this company are available at the Union Contracted locations. However, this may be short lived, as they are going to be "coming" for those contracts. They are union busters, and seem to adopt it as part of their articles of faith above and beyond all else. They will also retaliate against members who may support a union being selected to represent the local unit.

Pros

Interesting work with (some) hard workers. Serious place to get real experience. Salaried employees receive a large 401k match.

Cons

Place is held together by critical staff working much harder than others, but don't expect many raises. Annual adjustments do not match inflation. Managers do not understand technical skills that set their staff apart and struggle to argue for raises when asked, losing this talent within a few years. Experience always outranks expertise (helps to be old). HR/Operations collaborate to underpay their hourly staff, keeping process changes that affect incentive pay out of union negotiations for as long as possible. HR can barely run Salaried payroll and will threaten you if you question their math (even when they owe you money). HR refuses to address racism/white supremacy within their hourly workforce.
