Pros

I would say the absolute best reason to work at Aaron's is the fact that there is an endless amount of opportunities for a person to earn extra money. The bonus programs that the company offers is outstanding and is based solely on how each store works as a team. If you have a team that is excited and willing to work with each other you can expect to receive a plentiful amount of bonuses and extra money in your pocket. The benefits are also getting better as time goes on. Initially when I started the company did not offer eye coverage but now they are implementing new coverage that does which takes the already well built coverage and makes it almost perfect. One last terrific benefit has to be the amount of hours that the company hands out. Do to the fact that the company has a set amount for employees at each store and is reflected only by the amount of profit the store brings in, a person can always expect to receive a full 40 hours if not more. In this economy that is something to be cherished.

Cons

The downsides would absolutely have to be the hours that one has to work. The store is open from 10am to 7pm Monday through Thursday, 10am to 8pm Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays. The reason I would say that this is a downside is an employee very very rarely gets two days off in a row. The company is closed on Sunday and upper management frowns strongly upon giving anyone Mondays off. It is utterly pertinent that every single employee works every single Friday for the entire time that you are employed with Aaron's. I understand that it is a retail work environment however, I have worked in retail previously and it was never imperative that you never ever, ever take a Friday off. It is unfortunately about the same with Saturdays. Every single employee is full time which means there is no mid shift or night shift or morning shift. Everyone works all day with one odd day off during the week. If you are a General Manager, unless you store is successful enough to please the Regional Managers you probably will not have two days off. I feel that the amount of pressure that is brought down on each store to be 100% successful every single day no matter what is extremely unfair. I've also noticed bullying from upper management with employees which is every bit uncomfortable and unbelievably out of line 99% of the time.

Pros

All the people I worked with in the store were fantastic people. Everyone helps everyone else and doesn't leave anyone out to dry.

Cons

Management above store level were a nightmare. Easily the worst I've ever experienced. They would change goals often, sometimes within days of having made a change. They would make assumptions about what was wrong without ever actually being in store. They wouldn't speak to ANYONE below the level of a manager to the point of ignoring someone if they greeted them.
