Pros
Good coworkers Benefits Time off is kind of easy to get if they have the coverage
Cons
Micromanaging No curriculum Student behavior with little discipline Continuous meetings with no time to plan, prep, grade Talked down to “Coached” to perform a certain way in the classrooms or just existing. Don’t even think about asking questions where admin might be incorrect or had a misunderstanding because they will fault you and talk down to you for it. Also don’t ask questions because you won’t get the answers. You’re left to your own creating or downloading curriculum, which is very time consuming. You’re lucky if your room isn’t being used during your planning time to teach another class 2-3x a week. Student behavior is insane and little support from admin and they give consequences to some students while not doing it to others for doing the same things. Want your stuff vandalized and stolen? Racial slurs all over. No supplies given but we can be reimbursed if we can afford it in the first place. I truly had high hopes and love a lot of my students but lack of consistency, true support and value, and being torn down and talked to by your admin or assistant principal like you are stupid is draining. It feels more like a scheme for funding than it does a school. So many students and staff there deserve better and I think it could be with some changes but it will never happen.
