A mixed bag, but overall an experience I look back on in a negative light. Also kind of a pyramid scheme - Corporate Trainer Acquire Employee Review

Pros

• Your coworkers will be young, energetic, diverse, and overall really nice people • Some People can make a lot of money if they are good at sales • You learn to deal with adversity and other skills related to an industry as volatile as sales • The office is really nice

Cons

• Management is pretty dishonest—they tell you in interviews before you get hired and almost daily after being hired how it’s “more than a sales job”. In reality for 99% of the people who pass through there, that is all it ends up being. • You drive your car A BUNCH and will not get compensated for gas or car troubles because “how else will you get motivated” • If you get promoted you get awarded with more work for literally no more money • Pretty ridiculous schedule. You meet in the office every morning for “motivation” (brainwashing you to buy in to their exploitation) and hammering the sales tactics like a robot. Then you get to go to a BJ’s or Sam’s Club and harass customers and convince them to buy AT&T lines that they don’t need. • With the wonky schedule and extra driving, you end up dedicating 50-60 hours of your week to the job and only get paid for 40. But don’t tell management that, because they’ll accuse you of not working hard enough or not seeing the long term vision • The long term vision they sell you (becoming a manager) is only attained by a small amount of people. And a lot of those people still work a ton—often even more than the entry level people • Turnover is really high because people really quickly realize how exploitative the business model of Acquire is. Management will alienate those who leave by accusing them to have a “wrong mindset” or “not understanding the business”. • Reality is, the people who stay with the company are being sold a pipe dream. Acquire’s employees are often very young or very desperate people, which makes them even easier targets for exploitation and fake promises of “a better future”

Acquire Response

Thank you for sharing some positive aspects of your experience with the company. It's great to hear that you have found your coworkers to be young, energetic, diverse, and overall nice individuals. Working with a supportive and friendly team can greatly enhance job satisfaction. The potential to earn a significant income through sales can be a motivating factor for those who excel in that area. It's great that you recognize this opportunity and that the company provides the platform for individuals to succeed financially. Dealing with adversity is a valuable skill that can be developed through working in a sales role. The ability to handle challenges and bounce back from setbacks is crucial in a volatile industry. With that being said, we are sorry to hear that you feel management has been dishonest and that the job has not lived up to the promises made during the interview process. We understand our work schedule may not align with everyone's preferences or work style, therefore we aim to ensure the expectations of the schedule are clear during the interview process. However, the statement made about not being compensated for the work being done is not accurate, employees are compensated for the hours they work and also have the opportunity to make commissions & bonuses. To address the comment about employees getting promoted, Acquire's promotion rate is 10% while the national average is 6%. Acquire has promoted 4 people to a management role since the beginning of 2023. We would not consider this a "pipe dream" considering these are employees who came in at an entry-level position and qualified for a management role. Your feedback highlights important areas for improvement within the company. I would encourage you to share your thoughts with HR or higher-level management.

Pros

The team outings are fun, but that is literally the only pro.

Cons

They lie about what you're doing (selling phones in a Costco or Sam's), berate you, and lie about the hours.
