Don't even consider it - Recruiter Actalent Employee Review

Pros

Some of the people are great, once you figure out who's not fake. Those people were the only reason I could think of to stay.

Cons

The more I reflect on my experience at this company, the more insane it seems. For starters, the job itself sucks. It's cold calling and messaging people all day and trying to hit the unrealistic metrics set by management. Additionally, there's only a finite amount of people in the skillsets you recruit for, so you're bothering the same people who have already been contacted over and over by other recruiters. Personally, I didn't feel great calling people who had explicitly asked not to be contacted anymore, but I was told to remember that "you're helping them find a better opportunity." You're constantly pressured to hit your numbers but a big portion of your day is taken up by pointless meetings, at least two a day, where you have to update the whole team on your progress and then get yelled at by your director if he's in a bad mood. The hours are insane. The first morning meeting is at 8am, but they want you to show up at 7:30, but 7:40 at the latest. Sometimes there's even pre-morning-meeting meetings to make sure you get there and you're "set up for the day." There's lot of micromanaging, but some managers are worse than others. You have to report on your progress, set daily goals, check in throughout the day, and then have a meeting at the end of the day to talk about what you did. It's nauseating how little they believe in you to do your job. Also, you'll constantly get asked why you aren't filling a role, but anything you say is considered an excuse. And on top of it all, if you try to leave before 5:30, you'll get judged, and they'll say that you aren't trying hard enough. And that's just the stuff related to the actual job requirements. The place is a cult. You'll get asked if you're "bought in," and of course you have to say yes or else risk being put on the watchlist. The only people who get promoted are the ones who suck up. These people want this job to be your entire life. They talk badly about those who quit, and I saw at least 10 people quit in my first 5 months. Every review that says this place is a boys club and/or a frat/sorority is right. It feels like high school, and everyone is obsessed with drinking. I didn't even realize how true that is until I saw other people here pointing it out. If you don't go to the outings then you're not a team player. If you don't drink you'll be left out. You'll get interrogated about your personal life and then those details will get used against you. There aren't any boundaries; I even got reprimanded for not opening up enough to my supervisor. But that's okay because every comment is labeled as feedback and it's supposed to contribute to your development. Everyone who "succeeds" here is money hungry. If you don't want to make an exorbitant amount of money, and you just want to make enough to enjoy your life, you'll get judged. No one cares about your mental health. They say they do, but if you ever talk about it, you're told that you're complaining. You're seen as weak if you can't handle this job and this environment. I didn't realize how horrible I felt every day until I finally quit.

Higher than minimum wage but still sort of low pay. Must ask for PTO available instead of being able to view it freely.
