Pros
Exposure to the ABA networks and your work is rarely dull. There are moments where I've been proud of my work within the company.
Cons
You will be overworked with little incentive. Management will likely place you where there is a spot to fill without your consent or even prior knowledge of the given environment. This means that you will be placed on a team where the patients that you will be working with have extremely high rates of maladaptive behavior. This would be acceptable as it is part of the caregiving responsibility. However, do not expect frequent or premeditated support from management. Do not expect consistent communication. Do not expect management to allow time to reconstruct guidelines or protocol or negotiate levels of care given to the patients that demand more attention that would certainly drive a pay increase. Unless you are thinking to build some credibility and network to eventually grow out of the RBT position, please consider respecting yourself enough to look elsewhere for work.
