Pros

Prior to the COVID nightmare, there were some nice perks like reduced price or free lunches on Fridays, health benefits, and very competitive salaries.

Cons

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, ABC lived up to many of the 4- and 5-star reviews; however, when the pandemic came to town, the CEO and managements' true colors bled through. At least ten percent of behavior technicians and BCBAs were fired in the middle of March with no notice. Management continued to have technicians see clients in centers and sent others into homes. Technicians quickly went from salary to hourly wages as well. Centers in Austin experienced outbreaks with numerous technicians--and even very young clients--receiving positive COVID diagnoses. Aside from the pandemic-related issues, many centers suffer from management and program supervisors who are clique-obsessed and not afraid to gossip, exclude other team members, or play favorites. Leadership will offer support but not follow through. There are also some truly questionable billing practices and ethical violations. Overall, you could not pay me enough to ever work here again.

Thank you for your review, and we're sorry your experience while at ABC wasn't what you had hoped. We take our employees' well-being very seriously. We did have to terminate less than 5% of staff who were negatively affecting overall company morale or were on a performance improvement plan for other reasons. We did this for our other employees who were being negatively impacted. In addition, we went from salary to hourly due to a federal mandate that we had to start tracking employees' hours and pay overtime. Most of our employees receive 38-40+ hours per week with 29 days of PTO/Paid Sick/Vacation/Paid Holiday + 401K with match + health/dental/vision insurance. We also guarantee hours even when patients call in sick. Again, if you'd like to talk through your experience in more detail, please reach out to us at HR@actionbehavior.com.

Pros

Benefits, PTO, and decent flexibility is some of the few positive for Action. Having upper management and leadership that actually listens to employee concerns and works toward practical solutions is probably the top pros.

Cons

Tech issues can arise more often than liked. But they are typically resolved quickly.

Pros

This is the first review I have ever written for an organization. Having been with ABC for over three years now and in our field for under a decade, I feel like I have a good grasp of our field, careers as a clinical supervisor and challenges that come with longevity in center based pediatric ABA services. My time with ABC has been full of laughter, camaraderie, learning and constant development. I have given it my all and the company has reciprocated. Through thick and thin, changes in the organization and evolution of my current role, I have been treated with respect and fairness. There is transparency, awareness and most importantly, humility to acknowledge missteps and correct them.

Cons

The role is draining. You are constantly trying to appease junior clinicians, therapists and families. After doing it for a few years, you feel the fatigue. What gets me energized is spending time with other clinicians and celebrating them. I look forward to summits and gatherings where we can put the day to day aside for a moment and acknowledge and recognize each other.
