Pros
Executive leadership is wonderful. They are sociable, approachable, involved, and attentive. Most of the executive team including the CEO himself are very accessible to the employees and know most employees by name, including the ones in the branches. Employees themselves are for the most part respectful and courteous. It's a nice place to work. There is plenty of room for advancement and movement within the company. They encourage education and advancement. Vacations are generous. Technology is not archaic. Job security is very present. It's a great company to have a long-term career. Several of the people I worked with directly had been there for 15+ years already. Good training department, you can continue classes online with the in-house training software at your leisure after required job training is completed. Outside company events are fun and engaging. Lots of volunteering activities are available and there are even give-away's and fun things happening within the credit union for employees all the time.
Cons
Depending on your department, management can be a little less great. Almost all of the managers and directors are approachable and easy going but if you are a hard worker that is generally taken advantage of and more (a lot more) work is placed on you. It's almost like getting punished for being too efficient. Because the job security is so great (not meant to be sarcastic), some managers have a hard time letting anyone go that actually needs to go. As an example, I had personally experienced an employee that did so little, their work was passed onto me and 3 other people in the department. That was on top of the large work load I/we had already. This went on for over a year. They were spoken to numerous times but it never changed anything. It only ended when they left of their own accord. On a separate note, most employees are also CU Members. This "class" of Member is not treated like the "regular (non-employee) Members" I had personally been told by a Manager (when an employee messed up an interest rate on my personal loan) that if I was a "regular Member" this would be fixed immediately. Well, I wasn't, and IT wasn't. I never did get my rate fixed.
