Pros

The company provides an opportunity to work and succeed in the construction industry, even if the candidate's background isn't with a GC. This creates a positive environment of young, collaborative, and professionally diverse workers, but these folks are often shunned and excluded by the 'old-school construction guys' (many of whom, it turns out, are ineffective in their roles). Compensation seems reasonable among the lower ranks of management, but there is definitely a ceiling as you get promoted. Bonuses were great.

Cons

Management, particularly superintendents, are replete with toxicity. They often bully, belittle, and coerce coworkers. Expect racist and sexist language, and to feel like an outcast for being better spoken or more educated. Certain superintendents throw loud and borderline violent tantrums at their own coworkers or vendor partners. During the racial unrest of 2020, AP was silent on social media, while so many of their competitors offered statements of support for equity and inclusion.
