Pros

Can be direct and candid with direct supervisors. Great people to work with, broad demographic (for Utah). Flexible hours. Soda machines? I guess that's a pro in Utah. Amazing tenure in most departments. Not uncommon to be working with folks hitting there 10, 15, 20, and even 25 year milestones. There was a time when things were excellent. High productivity, great product, fantastic work life balance, and so on.

Cons

New CTO initiates an RTO mandate first day in office. Said CTO doesn't even live in the same state, so of course isn't returning to office themself. Pay is lagging behind industry and local metrics. Waiting for promotion approval for close to a year, multiple times now. ZERO communication from higher ups on timing of raises, promotions, etc. When pushed for answers, met with silence or the question is dismissed. Told to be grateful we're employed at all. After a mass layoff management request we have sympathy for them, management, in this time. In an all hands shortly after mass lay off we're told to expect better internal growth and opportunities. Seven months later, this remains to be seen. Instead we see further cost cutting. Except in the case of RTO and a new building. Apparently a larger office space, higher utility bills, etc. wasn't factored into that equation.

Pros

AdvancedMD has an excellent culture where everyone is welcome and respected. Our CEO, Amanda Sharp, has consistently led AdvancedMD with clarity and compassion through many times of change and uncertainty from covid lockdowns to new ownership to AI tooling changing the way we work. Amanda never loses sight of the real people who make up AdvancedMD and her commitment to do right by us, which sets the tone for leadership throughout the organization.

Cons

There's some uncertainty due to AI tooling changing certain roles and workflows, which can be stressful to navigate, but this is not unique to our business. At the end of the day, I'm thankful AdvancedMD is embracing AI tooling so that we can remain competitive both as an organization and individually.

Pros

I valued the opportunity to contribute to healthcare technology products that supported real users in complex workflows. The work was challenging in a good way and provided exposure to enterprise SaaS, patient engagement, accessibility, mobile design, design systems, research, and cross-functional collaboration. I worked with many thoughtful, talented people who cared about improving the customer and patient experience. For designers who enjoy solving complex problems, advocating for users, and working across product and engineering, the role offered meaningful opportunities to learn and contribute.

Cons

The environment could be complex and sometimes difficult to navigate, particularly when priorities shifted or alignment across teams was still forming. Like many mature software organizations, there were challenges related to legacy workflows, technical constraints, competing business needs, and varying levels of design maturity across product areas. Success often required patience, persistence, and the ability to communicate clearly with many different stakeholders.
