A good place to START learning retail sales. - Retail Sales Merchandiser Advantage Solutions Employee Review

Pros

ASM offers the opportunity come into a sales role, learn the business, and advance through the organization. Internal opportunities are available for advancing, and internal experience is always considered an asset to the existing employee over outside candidates. This is good place for those who have natural sales traits, who may not follow the traditional 4-year degree program, but have the willingness to learn, and the drive to succeed.

Cons

Benefits are expensive. The only training you will get is through peer and supervisor mentoring. Tuition reimbursement is non-existent, so for the person who wants to work and study, this can be done, but there is little monetary assistance to help one further their education. The company does not provide lower level employees with a company credit card. Airfare and hotel CAN be booked using a direct billing process; however, when this isn't possible, you may end up with some sizable expenses on your personal credit cards. Reimbursement is only processed monthly, so you may have to pay the bill out your own savings to avoid finance charges (not reimbursed) or pay the finance charges yourself. This feels like the employee is financing the company's business. Actually, they are.

Pros

Great company. Although laid off, we did get a severance package. Good PTO and flexibility.

Cons

I would suggest seeing if other positions within the company would be a good fit before laying off your good employees with no other options to keep them with the company.

Pros

There are pockets of talent and smarts on the creative side of the business, and I absolutely adored my immediate coworkers and my manager.

Cons

Senior leadership is an absolute mess. They will get us all together for these pep rallies, demand we “AMP IT UP”, then turn around and screw us mercilessly when it comes to raises, bonuses and job security. There is also quite a bit of platonic nepotism happening on the creative end of the business, with people who lend no real value to the work sitting at the very top of the creative pyramid solely because of their relationship to senior leaders. These people are being carried on the shoulders of their creative directors and ACDs, who are all criminally underpaid and under appreciated. With round after round of layoffs, no new wins, and leaders who demand high energy, long hours, and good attitudes at all times, I would strongly advise creatives to steer clear of this train wreck of an agency.
