Extremely uncompetitive wages. For most of the time I worked there I was paid $15,000 less than what the average person with my experience and position is paid in Asheville and I had to beg and complain for about 8 months before i was given a raise that still put me under what someone with my experience and position gets in Asheville. The building the main office is in on sweeten creek is an old factory that was converted to an office space that has no windows and is very dark and depressing and has a weird smell. The company has a huge problem with micromanaging but still somehow bosses have no idea what their employees are doing all day, and as a result they micromanage to make themselves feel like they know what's going on. They always have something negative to say about you even when you're doing your best and they can't actually point to anything you've done wrong or any deadlines you've missed. I strongly advise women to think long and hard before working here. The company culture is very male dominated (it feels like you're working in a frat house, there are stressballs in the shape of breasts sitting out on people's desks) and depending on who your boss is women can be treated very poorly. In my department I was formally disciplined for the smallest things meanwhile I had a male coworker who frequently screamed at women and made them cry who didn't face any consequences for it until he ended up physically threatening other employees. I really can't stress enough how much I dreaded going into work every day and leaving this company was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I only wish I had left sooner.
