Pros

Engineering: If you enjoy learning about and designing around the newest technology and not just the cheapest solution, this is firm to join in Seattle; There is no other comparison. The company and this office in particular prides itself on being the firm of first choice when it comes to complex projects so the engineering solutions often involve quality, value, and attention to detail in order to support clients' needs for their buildings. Most projects here have a significant impact on the region and the world. They focus mainly on technology, Healthcare, and higher-education. Work/Life Balance: It's good to see that most of your coworkers have stayed with the company for such a long time. It shows that there's a good work life balance, flexible leadership, and community. Other firms have an average term of employment in the 1 to 3 year range and a turnover rate of 30% annually. This is far from the case here. The leadership takes time ensure new candidates are going to be a good long term fit with a long career path rather than to churn and burn. Overall, there is not a lot of overtime expected and typically the week ends really close to 40 hours. Benefits: The health insurance is top notch with services in many of the same hospitals that were designed by the firm. 401k match slightly exceeds the industry standards which is nice. There's an unlimited ORCA card for commuting to and from work.

Cons

Complex projects can be a challenge for people that are looking for repetitive, cookie-cutter work or can't adapt to new concepts. There is some sink or swim involved with working on projects with high stakes, new tech, and short timelines. There are unlimited resources in the company for every aspect of design you can imagine, you just have to find them, learn them, and apply them but it can feel like drinking from a fire hose. Compensation is slightly lower than competitors but I gladly accept that to go home on time.

Pros

They hired me Project work can be interesting There is flexibility to go your own way (not a lot of structure) There's some great employees, but I never work with them

Cons

Corporate Culture is boring Some individuals work long hours, much harder than others Poor management structure Only place I have worked where I don't feel I belong or they want me to contribute Worst toilet paper ever!!!
