Pros

Freedom of schedule, great income potential, good training, pay is quick after a sale.

Cons

Lots and lots and lots of cold calling, knocking on doors and rejection. There are a lot of Aflac agents so businesses get tired of the Aflac calls but every once in a while you hit one that is open to meeting. No benefits, independent contractor is employment status which means you pay a lot of taxes at the end of the year. It's difficult to start building the business and make money and most agents struggle. Some do well but most leave after about a year.

Pros

Freedom to be your own boss, trips, bonuses, renewable income (instead of one time commission), career instead of just a job. FORTUNE 500 and a World's most Ethical Company. Great training (at least here in Wyoming) and a family mentality. Great family/work balance.

Cons

No base pay, can be a slow start at first, you have to be very organized and self-driven, have to be licensed in life and health to sell insurance (but my management help with the process).
