Pros

I have loved my 8+ years as an independent agent for AFLAC. You truly get to help people in times of critical injury or illness, and you make pretty good money while doing so. I have the freedom to be there for my family as I get to control my schedule. Management and training are great. They really go out of their way to help you get started. Also, residual income! You get paid for work you did years ago.

Cons

It truly is a job where you only get out of it what you put into it. So if you don't work, you don't get paid. The freedom can be a bad thing for people that need structure.

Pros

Freedom to be your own boss, trips, bonuses, renewable income (instead of one time commission), career instead of just a job. FORTUNE 500 and a World's most Ethical Company. Great training (at least here in Wyoming) and a family mentality. Great family/work balance.

Cons

No base pay, can be a slow start at first, you have to be very organized and self-driven, have to be licensed in life and health to sell insurance (but my management help with the process).
