Pros

$150 for licensing and some office supplies to start. You're not an employee, so no benefits or expense coverage.

Cons

No territories. Every place I went 5 Aflac sales reps had been there in the past year. After I got my license, the local Aflac execs told me that only 1 in 28 salespeople make it Called on 100+ businesses a week and virtually all had seen 5 or 6 sales people. Only made a few sales. Didn't even cover my gas money. After I left, they sent me a note asking for my commissions back!! Avoid these guys like the plague unless you have a ton of relatives and friends you can sell to in your area.

Pros

Freedom to be your own boss, trips, bonuses, renewable income (instead of one time commission), career instead of just a job. FORTUNE 500 and a World's most Ethical Company. Great training (at least here in Wyoming) and a family mentality. Great family/work balance.

Cons

No base pay, can be a slow start at first, you have to be very organized and self-driven, have to be licensed in life and health to sell insurance (but my management help with the process).
