Pros

There are some really good, smart employees here, who aren't fairly compensated.

Cons

If you care about your professional development, getting paid for the work you actually do, and having good bosses and mentors, avoid this place at all costs. Most of the high level employees here make ridiculous six figure salaries and only come into work twice or three times a week, use their "work trips" to other chapters as vacations, and delegate literally all their work to dismally paid assistants or coordinators. People at this place call it a "25-year old start up", which, if you really think about it, is a HORRENDOUS environment to work. You had 25 years to figure your stuff out, and instead of taking a long hard look at yourself as an organization, you are quick to replace people who end up quitting in several months / less than a year because you never set them up to succeed in their roles, and chalk it up to them "not being a fit". With your turnover rate, it's depressing that this is not a concern. After working at this job, with years of experience in the non profit sector, I've decided to leave the nonprofit industry for good. Because if this is what a successful, "great place to work" nonprofit looks like, I want no part in it. When I discussed with HR what my options were, and that I felt hopeless, she basically told me I didn't have to stay there and pushed me to quit. Rather than offer solutions, she pushed me to quit the organization.

Pros

The vision of the program, it's overall reach, and the children in the communities. The opportunities it gives the kids really is great. The kids are the only good thing. The place makes impact when (if) it's done correctly.

Cons

The NY leadership is absolutely horrible. Their staff turnover is the craziest thing to ever be witnessed !!!! There's tons of nepotism!!! It's about who is the favorite, and who is gunna follow what they say and not question it. It's basically led by a mean girls group. They don't like people who speak up or question them. And if they don't like YOU they'll make sure you know it and feel it up until you either quit or they find the quickest opportunity to get rid of you. HR is just as bad so don't even think about going there unless you just want to expedite your unemployment or just be dismissed acting like you're crazy for even considering speaking They don't train you but expect you to do and know a whole bunch of things It's actually ridiculous how much they preach and sell these dreams and paint the pretty picture but can be so disgusting to adults and work with KIDS. Can't speak for other chapters, but this ones got major problems. I'd be shocked if they lasted another 5 years.
