Pros

Everyone in the National office strongly believes in the mission and vision of the organization and works to create a productive and safe environment in the office. There is an emphasis on open, honest, respectful feedback across all positions and hierarchy levels and I've seen feedback get implemented, which shows the executive team is action-oriented and sincere about making ASAS a great place to work. I feel like I'm creating meaningful relationships in the workspace, and truly enjoy the office culture. There's a lot of laughter and joking and people go out of their way to make sure new employees feel included. The interview process was smooth and transparent. The recruiting coordinator was straightforward about timelines and expectations, and I felt like I gained a strong understanding of ASAS and my role in the interview process. I felt prepared to walk into my role on my first day. The on-boarding process is comprehensive and helpful; I met with every department to learn about their strategic priorities and they worked with my division. The benefits are also great, and there's a strong focus on work-life balance. You get ample PTO and non-exempt employees receive flex hours, which makes life a lot less stressful. ASAS National truly values their employees.

Cons

Sometimes great ideas can get lost in the shuffle because there are other departmental priorities, and it can sometimes feel like there is more of an operational focus over serving youth. There is a large focus on raising money (which, makes sense given we're operating in the non-profit sector) which can sometimes conflict with the vision for outcomes for our youth. However, I want to stress that everyone does believe in the mission - I think the money aspect is true at every non-profit.

Pros

The vision of the program, it's overall reach, and the children in the communities. The opportunities it gives the kids really is great. The kids are the only good thing. The place makes impact when (if) it's done correctly.

Cons

The NY leadership is absolutely horrible. Their staff turnover is the craziest thing to ever be witnessed !!!! There's tons of nepotism!!! It's about who is the favorite, and who is gunna follow what they say and not question it. It's basically led by a mean girls group. They don't like people who speak up or question them. And if they don't like YOU they'll make sure you know it and feel it up until you either quit or they find the quickest opportunity to get rid of you. HR is just as bad so don't even think about going there unless you just want to expedite your unemployment or just be dismissed acting like you're crazy for even considering speaking They don't train you but expect you to do and know a whole bunch of things It's actually ridiculous how much they preach and sell these dreams and paint the pretty picture but can be so disgusting to adults and work with KIDS. Can't speak for other chapters, but this ones got major problems. I'd be shocked if they lasted another 5 years.
