Pros

nothing to say here because i didn't have a positive experience at all.

Cons

mean CEO who never smiles. only get state funding and they knit-pick at every dollar. my site closed down when the funding ended. they micromanage everything. turnover is outrageous. all employees are miserable and kids don't even like the program. parents don't get involved. so boring you can't stay awake while you work there. no one is engaged. ceo is former ISD person who doesn't do a single thing not even show up to work half the time. she is constantly negative and bemoaning people and talking about how everything is always out of compliance but she is the one to blame for it for lack of management, interest time and skill. she doesn't understand today's youth and it's sad they took a potential great organization and turned it into a mini disorganized school with no real objectives or activities. paperwork nightmares. bogged down in bureaucracy. don't care about their employees or the children one iota. the board doesn't do anything and basically are figure heads who don't even know what's going on. they are so cheap i had to buy my own supplies and they never reimbursed me for any mileage or anything I bought on my own. I was working toward teacher certification and i was treated poorly and like i didn't know how to do anything or think. IF you are looking for this as a place to work, I say run now as fast as you can because between the bureaucracy, politics and lack of engagement, you will wish you never worked there at all. There are a lot of politics, and the leadership is severely lacking and is not present most of the time. I felt the CEO was killing the program because she meddled and complained the very few times we saw her in the building (which was basically to come over to hob-knob with principals and school officials, instead of taking an interest in the kids.

Pros

The vision of the program, it's overall reach, and the children in the communities. The opportunities it gives the kids really is great. The kids are the only good thing. The place makes impact when (if) it's done correctly.

Cons

The NY leadership is absolutely horrible. Their staff turnover is the craziest thing to ever be witnessed !!!! There's tons of nepotism!!! It's about who is the favorite, and who is gunna follow what they say and not question it. It's basically led by a mean girls group. They don't like people who speak up or question them. And if they don't like YOU they'll make sure you know it and feel it up until you either quit or they find the quickest opportunity to get rid of you. HR is just as bad so don't even think about going there unless you just want to expedite your unemployment or just be dismissed acting like you're crazy for even considering speaking They don't train you but expect you to do and know a whole bunch of things It's actually ridiculous how much they preach and sell these dreams and paint the pretty picture but can be so disgusting to adults and work with KIDS. Can't speak for other chapters, but this ones got major problems. I'd be shocked if they lasted another 5 years.
