Pros

Columbia, SC doesn't offer many employment opportunities with large organizations with competitive pay -- AgFirst is pretty much it. In the beginning, the salary seems competitive and the benefits are good.

Cons

Once working within this organization you eventually find out that your growth is limited and the pay becomes quickly out of alignment with the work you are performing and the market rate. Job descriptions change on a dime without additional compensation and the toxic culture is not worth it. They scream from the rooftops that their employees are important and so is their culture but it is a farce. If you go against the status quo in any way, you are targeted and held accountable for the mistakes of everyone else. Everyone is expected to do more, constantly, without regard for bandwidth. The pace is not sustainable and the mediocre leadership is rewarded because of the "good ol boy's club." They have great-sounding core values that mean absolutely nothing. There isn't a progressive thing about this organization. They are a stodgy bank with archaic systems and ways of thinking. This place quickly takes a toll on the strongest and best employees.

Pros

I truly love working for the “new” AgFirst. Since the arrival of our new CEO and the new executive leaders (COO, CFO, and CHRO), there has been a noticeable and inspiring shift in energy across the organization. Leadership feels more engaged, forward-thinking, and aligned with the mission. Our refreshed core values are not just words, they’ve genuinely reshaped how we collaborate, make decisions, and support one another. I feel more connected to the mission than ever before, and it shows up in the enthusiasm and commitment of my coworkers. There’s a strong sense of momentum and positivity that makes AgFirst stand out as a great place to work.

Cons

The only downside I can think of is that I wish some of these positive changes had happened sooner so we could have built on this momentum even earlier.

Pros

Great co-workers make it tolerable

Cons

They recently removed leaders and brought in managers. CEO has told the organization that they are restructuring and if they believe you are making too much money your salary will be reduced. They’ve also said if you don’t like it leave. They don’t care about the employees they just care there’s a butt in your seat.
