Pros

Learning new projects that was first of a kind such as blue hydrogen and green hydrogen projects.

Cons

Company was misguided by management to be a pioneer on blue and green hydrogen and lost too much money executing those projects. LNG technology had to be sold off to make up those lost money but management never shared any details. Your manager will reject your project related travel and use the project funding for him instead of the engineer to go to project related meeting overseas. Annual salary is about 20-25% less than market.

Pros

I learned a lot from the teams I worked with over my tenure. If I was particularly interested in learning about certain parts of the business, I was often allowed to tackle those challenges. Mentors were very helpful and encouraging. I enjoyed the people I worked with and they always tried to open doors into other parts of the company I was interested in.

Cons

If you want to be doing mostly pure mechanical design work, there is less of that available at Air Products. Lots of opportunities for operations, project management, and EPC roles for mechanical engineers, and pressure vessel work from my perspective. In the initial round of placements, you get matched to one team (you can join or not) — it was not exactly my cup of tea from a day to day work perspective. Second round, I was able to join a team where I absolutely loved doing the day to day work.
