Pros

- Fair pay for the engineering jobs at least - Very good benefits - Qualified and capable colleagues - A lot of responsibility given, with some caveats - Interesting market with a lot of insight into how cloud and db management works

Cons

- The founders are hands-on and doing the work of at least 2 normal employees each (both hours and work done), which is nice, but they're expecting the same from everyone else - Constant tracking of how many and what kind of PRs people create, tickets they work on, messages they send etc. in the background - The story is that Aiven can manage more databases than competitors because their management software is so good, which has some truth to it, but at least half of the performance is because of a couple of talented and often overworked individuals - The company culture on paper and in reality are completely different, the culture is mostly glued on and not something everyone lives and breathes - People are hired with higher pay and position than what they're used to, but as a result the position can be windy and employees disappearing on probation is not uncommon - A lot of critical Glassdoor reviews have disappeared leaving mainly5 star reviews

Pros

Great people focused on solving hard problems associated with how data moves inside of an organization and gets consumed downstream by AI and applications. Strong new leadership team has the company moving in the right direction. Truly international company with HQ in Finland and vibrant offices in other really cool locations (Cork, Austin, London). Come here if you want to be challenged but also celebrated for your contributions.

Cons

We compete for customers against some of the largest software companies in the world, so the challenge is real. But we are winning.

Pros

Decent salary, good international travel opportunities, interesting and kind colleagues

Cons

Executive leadership has no vision or appetite to stick to a plan. Despite hiring many people with the experience and skillset to win, leadership routinely ignores advice from within the house, over-commits to half-baked plans, assigns the wrong people to tasks, and then is unwilling to take accountability for continuously failing to deliver anything new.
