Pros

Aiven is a fantastic place to work. I have never worked in a culture so genuine or a company that has so much integrity. People are cared for here, and people care in return. You can actually really make a difference at Aiven and leave your mark. Everyone is trusted and respected and given ownership of their work and their career. Aiven invests heavily on its people and the world-class learning & development opportunities it offers are only one example of it. Aiveners are highly skilled and passionate about their work and the company. Everyone believes in the company and its success on its mission, and that is mirrored in a culture of collaboration unlike anywhere else. No one is here just for the pay check. There is also a strong sense of community and everyone is valued as people and as experts. People are free to be authentic here. The discussion is always open and the atmosphere allows for employees from leaders to interns to be vulnerable. Aiven raises topics like mental health & wellbeing, diversity & inclusivity, and encourages people to give back with volunteering holidays and matched donations for example. These are only a few things that make Aiven an amazing place to work. I highly recommend this employer.

Cons

The fast growth and the constant change that comes with it make it hard to give everything the attention it deserves. Aiven may have some pains from exponential growth, for example in setting scalable processes on the go and hiring fast enough, but the exceptional thing about Aiven is how transparently and proactively these pains are addressed. The workforce is still mostly male but great steps are being taken all the time, and the atmosphere is welcoming end inclusive. This is not a con per se, but it is good to understand that to balance and navigate the sometimes hectic growth environment it's good to have good self-leadership skills or take on developing them with the help of Aiven's coaches, classes or other resources.

Pros

Great people focused on solving hard problems associated with how data moves inside of an organization and gets consumed downstream by AI and applications. Strong new leadership team has the company moving in the right direction. Truly international company with HQ in Finland and vibrant offices in other really cool locations (Cork, Austin, London). Come here if you want to be challenged but also celebrated for your contributions.

Cons

We compete for customers against some of the largest software companies in the world, so the challenge is real. But we are winning.

Pros

Decent salary, good international travel opportunities, interesting and kind colleagues

Cons

Executive leadership has no vision or appetite to stick to a plan. Despite hiring many people with the experience and skillset to win, leadership routinely ignores advice from within the house, over-commits to half-baked plans, assigns the wrong people to tasks, and then is unwilling to take accountability for continuously failing to deliver anything new.
