Layoffs happen every year now. Once you hit senior II, advancement is very difficult. People who get to higher levels tend to hold on for dear life. Because they don't move on, it's harder to get promoted. The promotion process is unclear and uneven across the organization. Some teams have 30 or 40 percent Principal level titles which seems really ridiculous.
