Pros

The job is a lot of fun. It is fun to entertain the guests. They train you beforehand and help you get your CDL class B. Perfect for a college student who can only work during the summer. Constant beautiful scenery. You are being paid to be on vacation. After 2 years working for the company there are cruise benefits.

Cons

You don't know what you are doing until the afternoon before. The management doesn't always care how many hours you want to work. They just give the tours to those with the most available hours. They have favorites.

Pros

Beautiful and unique work setting aboard domed railcars in Alaska's wilderness. Substantial tips for FoH employees. Company often promotes from within. Free cruise at the end of seasonal contract. Because a normal shift is 10+ hours, accrue overtime pay quickly. Very friendly company, you will not struggle to make connections. Excellent networking for other seasonal opportunities.

Cons

Long shifts and overnight travel required every shift. Housing NOT provided in Anchorage. Strict uniform policy. Communication frequently impeded by remoteness of travel, flexibility a must.
