The problem here was that the leadership team chased off these inquisitive minds. The CEO at the time (Matt Hertig), in particular would consistently push away and try to minimize anyone that questioned his thought process. This led to almost all of my mentors, and eventually even me leaving the company. I would encourage any job seeker to research any CEO, President, or Board of Directors prior to applying anywhere. As a hint, check out their social media. See what they like and who they follow. It will give you a good idea of who they are. For instance, one of the biggest complaints in the organization at the time of my departure was around racism and sexism in the work place. While nothing overtly egregious was done by the company, to my knowledge - mostly micro-aggressions of varying degrees, the majority of the workforce held these topics in extremely high regard. Still, the owners seemed to brush these issues aside, stating that the offended persons were being overly sensitive. Had I previously done any research on the owners, I would have known all along that these social justice issues were not going to be a priority.
