Pros

Allied Machine recruited me right out of college to fill a possition that they had been looking to fill for over two years. Their philosophy in that was that they could take a younger person from college (provided that they fit into the department well with personality and work ethic and so forth) and teach them what was needed to grow into the possition. I've been there a short time and feel very welcomed by everyone and find that most everyone is very eager to help me become aclimated with the company and answer any questions I may have.

Cons

I have not experienced many downsides yet. I have noticed that there are a select few people in the company who seem to have lots of control or final say on what goes on. The rest of the people there who do carry a lot of responsibility seem to be "urinal puck" status where we do a lot of work but don't see much of the praise or compensation. This may be because of the size of the company where it has only room for a few to advance to much higher levels. There are some people there who have remained loyal to the company for a number of years and contribute a lot that seem to have gotten lost in the companies growth and got left behind on the pay scale.

Pros

Allied offers good training, salary, benefits, while working for a large family owned business.

Cons

Upward mobility is good but it is a family owned business and so there is a ceiling.
