Pros

When I joined in 2018, this was a great place to be. I had fantastic managers who enabled me to grow and gain experience and confidence I didn’t know was in me. They promoted from within and there were many career paths you could follow, should you want to make a change. HAD great training options and increases were based on merit.

Cons

After buying another company ( who is known for cheap insurance), things started changing very quickly. If you are a contractor, be aware there will be a full “culling” at least once a year. And there is less than 2 weeks warning. Average increases this year ( with inflation at 8%), was 2%. Up from last years 1.3%. Bullying is rampant. All the old ladies who started in 1901 are insecure and will try and make you life hell. Management is more interested in playing politics than solving the problem. Forget about an honest performance review. You get promoted based on who is next inline. Performance is measured against items you have no control over. No more SAFe training, but all teams are SAFe. Training people to understand their roles fall on the RTE and scrum masters. No more paying yearly membership fees either. ALL and I mean ALL technical jobs are outsourced to India. Product management is US and Northern Ireland based. Make piece with little to no work life balance. Deployments happen overnight and you have to be there. Medical insurance is ridiculous. I found better privately and it was cheaper. You don’t get discount on insurance. No more hiring from within. At my level, (which is not leadership), I was stalled and would stay in the same pay band and grade for ever and beyond. I worked with people who didn’t get to the next level for 13 years. So if you are driven and want to grow, forget about it. Diversity - lol. Yes. 90% of mangers are men. Most white or Indian.

Pros

Great base pay, benefits, 401K match, and standard corporate perks. Plenty of networking opportunities all across the country, the ability to support local communities, and a commission structure with good intentions and potential

Cons

As a company, Allstate lacks awareness of their role within the industry and within the country, fully acknowledging that their rates are NEVER the best (not sometimes, NEVER). At a time when everyone is conscious of their spending, selling a more expensive (and oftentimes identical) product not only feels wrong - it's unsustainable. There is a severe lack of program direction, poor understanding of the different states' geography and demographics, and complete void of accountability or clarity. An entire product launch was delayed by a month on the day it was supposed to launch, with an explanation never fully arriving and acknowledgment finally trickling down several days later. Of course, this leads to an overuse of corporate speak excuses in an endless cycle of "circle backs" because nobody ever knows what is actually happening or WHY. On top of all that, the technology is laughably outdated, with monitors that feature known defects and an "in-house approach" to all of their software that doesn't even feature a modern CRM. Like the hardware, known system-wide bugs were rampant within these Allstate branded systems, leading to embarrassing conversations with prospects and partners. MS Teams and Outlook will go off late into the night, well beyond normal business hours, all under the excuse of differing time zones and "sharing successes."
