Pros
Potential for good commissions if you can overcome the drastic rate increases and get on the agents "good" list - if you work for a smaller private agent its possible to have a good experience - Possible to work remotely at times.
Cons
- extreme increase in rates for customers make it impossible to make the product/service worth selling unless they just havent looked anywhere else ever. - I had a great experience working with a smaller agent we merged sales and services so we were close with our customers and built a rapport and got more policies that way. Was lower overhead for the agent and I was 1 of 2 producers employed with him. Except in recent years All-State has completely wrecked their operation they require a 50% up front premium payment. They are trying the eliminate most of thier private agents, they arent even sending out monthly bills anymore.. just one "payment schedulea" goes out at renewal in order to "save money on unnecessary money on postage - youre kidding. So, my agent sold and I was passed on also - the lead system is completely antiquated, even warm leads lead to nothing because the premiums are horrendous. Goals are unattainable. No guidence or HR / Tech support suckes and so does the entire system. I could go on but I wont.
