Pros
-Work from home is a huge gift -Good pay -Leadership values wellbeing and flexibility -Clear values, outcomes and goals -Well run company -Consistent -Ethical leadership -A lot of opportunity for innovation for those willing to try -A vision for the future of protection and company transformation that they follow well
Cons
-The people are pretty bland which makes for fewer friendships and a feeling of belonging or affiliation -Very tight budgets for anything related to conferences, in person meetings, connection, development - I wish we could get together in person way more. I think not doing so hurts business and causes things to take way longer. They are working on improving this! -The insurance industry is in a tough era facing a lot of financial pressure -Major silos exist between departments -There is little vision of what kind of brand we want to become from our marketing leaders: little risk is taken, we are way behind on being part of culture and putting things out into the market. We are a one-trick pony with TV spots currently. This too is evolving. -HUGE organization, which can be complicated and slow -"Allstate nice" culture means less conflict when conflict could lead us to better outcomes -There is a battle between legacy Allstaters and new folks at times -Maternity leave JUST improved to 12 weeks in 2023 (this blows my mind). I hope they will improve it further to at least 16 with flexibility upon return for mothers.
