Pros

I've read some of these reviews and people don't seem happy with working for Alro. And maybe I'm a rare bird but I don't be mind the majority of the bull. I mean any job is going to have it's downsides and it's drama. I work to take care of my family and I do just that. Alro is the best job I've ever had. The pay is decent. The benefits are exceptional. The warehouse crew is a bunch of nice & hard-working people, for the most part. My particular position can be quite physically demanding at times but I consider that exercise and a way to stay in shape. I also enjoy the fact that I am not constantly bothered by supervision and pulled away from my days work. I have never been told "no" when a situation arises concerning a family emergency where I need to adjust my schedule. They seem family oriented.

Cons

Yes, they preach a certain "culture" at Alro about being a team and all working together towards the same goal like we're all best friends, when that is certainly not the case. They are a business. And employees have to understand that what matters the most is safety and productivity. I have noticed a tendency to stick people in certain lead positions just to keep the ball rolling on production. People that are clearly not qualified or don't have the people skills to deal with a supervisory position. So it all trickles down the ladder. People are pissed that they are forced 12-hour days or being told they need to work harder. Poor management=poor morale among the worker bees. But again, I get it, it's just business and sometimes it has to be a bit cutthroat. That's not my distress. So, at Alro, there is a point system that all WAREHOUSE staff has to adhere to. It's an attendance and tardiness policy. You start with 12 points. Call out and you lose two points, come in a minute late (no matter if family issues pop up and you've notified management two hours before the start of your shift that you'll be a little late but will stay later than your eight hour workday) still lose a point. Especially when an employee is known for constantly working 11 or 12 hour days most days. But that's not the real kicker, he worst part is THEN you have to work 12 weeks before you get ONE point back. Seems a bit extreme but they try and justify it by saying "that's so people won't abuse the system" i.e.- work two months and call out. I think that last part is the most ridiculous part of any of it.

Pros

Strong, stable company that cares. You get what you put in.

Cons

The position is tough and requires immense multi-tasking capabilities. But if you stick with it, it gets easier over time.
