Pros
A real pro of working at Alsana when I started was the strong focus on culture—a team full of excellence and having the resources to truly invest in people. It was so clear how important it is to support professional development, provide the tools to do the job well, give meaningful recognition, and ensure everyone believes in the mission. We had that foundation—and it made a huge difference. Unfortunately, that level of investment and support didn’t last.
Cons
The challenges that emerged over time stemmed largely from high turnover and a lack of sustained investment in clinical and professional development. When the focus became overly weighted toward the bottom line, it pulled attention away from the people and the mission and the balance skewed too far. This shift created strains in the culture, increased micromanagement, and eroded the sense of stability for the team. Going through multiple CEOs and experiencing a lack of clear communication and inconsistent decisions left people feeling uncertain, insecure, and lacking confidence. Every company faces challenges but it takes leadership that can see all three pieces: mission, people, and business performance. True influence and sustainable success come from investing in all three simultaneously, not just the bottom line. It never feels good to work somewhere where you feel your security depends solely on numbers, rather than a shared vision and support.
