Pros
free lunch on week days
Cons
Not worth it for getting a "foot in" when it comes to working with animals. The pay is abysmal, the hours feel never-ending, and you are also asked to work overtime every other week as turnover is so high. Also, all of these hours you will be stuck in a hot, sweaty room with no windows. Even if you think you are strong enough to witness these animals being kept in cages their entire life and performed procedures on, the work you do at this job and the things you witness here will have an impact on your mental health. The compassion fatigue in this job was often overwhelming. All floor departments are understaffed and overworked, which often negatively impacts animal welfare as most employees are rushing to finish procedures on time. The work culture here is very cliquey. People can be often judgmental between departments. The job here is extremely repetitive, you do the same thing every single day.
