Pros
Great benefits- the stock always hits and always cuts a dividend Decent freedom to explore new ideas and set your own agenda (within pretty rigid regulatory frameworks)
Cons
No real chance to have an impact- the industry is predictable, and so you'll talk a lot about ideas but the real value is in preserving the cash flow. Anything that might challenge or put that at risk is shot down immediately. Overwhelming majority of old white men running the company, so there's a conscious effort to promote women. Some of them deserve it. The Richmond functions and the rest of the country are really on different pages. Very hard to work between them because they have very different goals and are incentivized to exhibit different behaviors. Once you realize that no one really wants anything to change, you can set your work life balance pretty well.
