Pros

The company culture is probably the best thing about Amtrust. The office culture is laid back where you are encouraged to collaborate with other members of your team. Amtrust is also attempting to modernize many of their projects, they're trying to move away from VB.Net/WebForms to C#/MVC/WebApi2. So, you might get put onto a team that is modernizing one of these projects! They also offer generous PTO. You'll get 18 days of PTO a year, plus another 18 days of company holidays! But I would only recommend this place to someone near the beginning of their career, and to only stay there for 2-4 years.

Cons

The biggest problem Amtrust faces is the upper management. As an insurance company, they place IT near the bottom of the stack. At the end of 2017, Amtrust began a large reorganization effort, for IT this means cost cutting! In 2018, we had a large layoff at the beginning of the year, lousy pay raises, and many senior developers began leaving with no effort on Amtrust's part to either hold onto these people with a pay raise or even to back fill these positions with new hires! All this, without any transparency on the part of upper managements. All in all, it feels like Amtrust is trying to pull the rug out from under their IT department!

Pros

Flexible work hours. Great co-workers. My co-workers are friendly, easy to talk to and are willing to help you if they are able to.

Cons

Systems can give you issues at times and make it difficult to get work done.

Pros

Co-workers are amazing. Managers are helpful.

Cons

Rolling out an incomplete new operating system was a horrible idea. Creates additional work for adjusters. The processes being implemented are hindering the ability to effectively close claims. Adjusters are being told to do more with less every day. Claim counts average 180 to 200 for the last 6 months with no relief in sight. Hybrid work was promised at 2 home and 3 in office. That was recently revoked and it is now mandatory 4 days in office. With gas prices what they are, that really hurts. Corporate management seems to be focused more on obtaining #1 status and bringing in the big bucks than finding a way to relieve the stress on their employees. Mental health is non existent and if you aren't putting in 50+ hours a week there is no way to stay on top of your work load. Even then you will feel like you are barely treading water. New NICE phone system is for call centers-not claim adjusters. Not a lot of advancement opportunities unless you are someone's pet. Benefits are mediocre at best.
