Amtrust furloughed or laid off an unknown amount of employees in June, 2020 after the Covid lockdowns were put in place. No explanation was given but it appears Covid was used as a means to shed dead weight. This is understandable from an economic standpoint, however business did not slow down and workloads increased substantially to cover the increased claims and lack of staff. Typical caseloads of 120-130 were increased to 150-160+ in the matter of a month or two. "Special" projects including auditing hundreds of additional claim files were distributed to adjusters in the hopes of preventing another PAR audit failure. No acknowledgement or merit raises were given despite the increased business and workloads. In addition, upper management decided to revamp the already outdated claims system in the middle of this with minimal training/support.
In summary, upper management expects employees to be complacent and "just get it done" at all costs with complete disregard to their well-being.
